How to apply for Learning License in Gujarat
According to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, you must have a valid driver’s license to drive a motor vehicle in India. However, you must apply for a Learning license first to get a permanent one. The Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) are authorized to issue a learning license as per the Motor Vehicle Act. You can apply for the same through online and offline methods.
What is a Learning License?
The learning licence is a temporary document that remains valid for 6 months. You can apply for a permanent driving licence after 30 days or within six months from the date of issue of your learning licence. After obtaining a learning licence, you are required to put an “L” symbol in red colour on the front and rear of your vehicle.

You must fulfil the following eligibility criteria to apply for a learner’s license in Gujarat:
You must be at least 16 years old to apply for a learner’s licence for a non-geared motorcycle of up to 50cc engine capacity. You should also have a letter of consent from your parents/guardian

Online Process of Applying for a Learning License in Gujarat
- Visit the Parivahan Sewa website: Go to the official Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website.
- Navigate to Driving License Services: Find and click on “Online Services” and then select “Driving License Related Services”.
- Select your State: Choose your state from the dropdown menu.
- Apply for Learner’s License: Look for and click on the option to “Apply for Learner’s Licence” or similar.
- Fill out the Application Form: Provide all the necessary personal, contact, and address details accurately.
- Upload Documents: Scan and upload the required documents, such as proof of age, address, and photograph.
